Nel 2024, dal 19 al 21 aprile, l'Autodromo di Imola ospiterà la 6 Ore di Imola, secondo round del FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
L’Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari ha già ospitato in passato gare endurance: nel 2011 un round dell’Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, precursore del WEC; dal 2013 al 2016 la European Le Mans Series, manifestazione ritornata nel 2022 e che è presente anche nel calendario del 2024.
Le gare per vetture sport debuttano in riva al Santerno poco dopo la nascita della pista con le tre edizioni della «Conchiglia d’Oro Shell», dal 1954 al 1956, per proseguire con le sei edizioni della «500 chilometri» dal 1968 al 1973.
Il 2 giugno 1974 la gara romagnola diventa finalmente adulta con la prima edizione della «1000 chilometri di Imola», inserita nel Campionato mondiale marche, vinta dalla coppia francese Gerard Larrousse – Henri Pescarolo su Matra MS670.
Dopo il 1976 e il 1977, il 15 settembre 1984 l’autodromo è nuovamente teatro di una prova del Campionato mondiale sportprototipi, la «1000 chilometri di Imola», vinta dalla coppia tedesca Hans-Joachim Stuck - Stefan Bellof su Porsche 956 B.

Endurance in Imola from 1968 to today

In 2024, from 19 to 21 April, Imola’s racetrack will host the 6 Hour-race of Imola, the second round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack already hosted endurance races in the past: from a round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup in 2011, a precursor of the WEC; to the European Le Mans Series from 2013 to 2016, which took place in 2022 too and is present in the 2024 events calendar.
The sports car races debuted on the Santerno banks shortly after the construction of the track with the three editions of the «Conchiglia d'Oro Shell», from 1954 to 1956, followed by the six editions of the «500 kilometers» from 1968 to 1973.
On 2 June 1974, the race in Romagna finally ripened with the first edition of the «1000 kilometers of Imola», which was included in the Marche World Championship and it was won by the French couple Gerard Larrousse - Henri Pescarolo on Matra MS670.
After 1976 and 1977, on 15 September 1984 the racetrack was again the scene of a test of the World Sportscar Championship, the «1000 km of Imola», won by the German couple Hans-Joachim Stuck - Stefan Bellof on Porsche 956 B.
